Is It Possible To Do Submission Grappling Without Getting Injured?

Is it possible to be a grappler and train injury free? By some reactions that I’ve received in the past, many tend to think that grappling “injury-free” is very possible. Some grapplers like to believe that most injuries could be avoided if training partners were more considerate and less competitive while training.

Is There Something Missing In Your Life?

How often do you hear people complaining: ‘There’s something missing in my life. If only I knew what it was, I could do something about it’? Perhaps you think those kind of thoughts yourself. As a life coach, I certainly come across it regularly when new clients come to me, searching for a way forward in a life that’s become somehow meaningless and dull for them.

The usual reflex response is to buy expensive new toys and to experiment with increasingly extreme new experiences. This behaviour pattern follows the reasoning that the more you try out, the more likely your are to find that one special thing which will make the difference. But does the reasoning actually make sense? In most cases I don’t believe that it does.

Robert Collier was unequaled in writing sales copy with eye appeal that delivered huge company and corporate profits. Using his skills with words, Collier created phrases with emotional punch that sold millions of dollars of merchandise.

In six months, for example, Collier used direct mail to alter a company’s balance sheet from minus $800,000 to $1,200,000 in NET profits.

“He sold many thousands of the Harvard Classics - a five foot shelf of books by Dr. Elliott - and his circulars on the O. Henry stories brought in orders for over two million dollars,” according to the biographical sketch on the website robertcollierpublications.com

Move Out Of Your Comfort Zone And Make Change

Your comfort zone is the place you feel safe, where there is no sense of risk. To step out of this place can feel scary and the thought of transforming the status quo can be overwhelming.

It is also very easy to say that you will make change in your life when you have lost weight/moved house/have more money/the children have gone to school, etc, then never make that change or come up with new excuses not to move forward.

Are You A Quitter?

Ok, here’s the question for you this week: do you consider yourself a quitter? When faced with challenges, do you find it easier to fight thru them or sneak out the back door? Not sure, well let me give you a few scenarios and you tell me what you would’ve done.

Scenario #1: Grappler A’s (GA) has been training for all of 2 months and goes out of town and decides to visit another academy. The instructor puts GA with a senior level guy that’s already had a few pro-MMA matches and he hyper-extends GA’s elbow with an armbar so fast there was no time for GA to tap, just scream. As GA sat on the sideline icing his hurt elbow, he questioned why he ever wanted to do that stuff.

The Essential Elements Of Powerful Communication

Whenever you speak to another person or a group, you’re selling something: products, ideas, viewpoints, or simply yourself. Your goal is to influence or persuade the listener to buy what you say, and your success as a communicator stems less from what you say than from your ability to make an emotional contact with the listener.

People buy on emotion and justify with fact. You may come up with logical reasons to buy a particular house or car, but you really make a preconscious emotional buying decision, then, justify it with intellect. You evaluate a speaker the same way. People buy based on emotional contact, then consider the ideas or facts.

More Success Secrets From A Rugby Union Hero

After helping England win the world rugby union cup in 2003, Jonny Wilkinson is often asked to do promotional work. As usual, he over delivers and treats others the way he would like to be treated.

For example, he does not like to disappoint kids who have come to one of his kicking clinics. He teaches them the way he would like to have been taught.

He remembers how a golfing instructor ‘took a little time out just to confuse him and then walked away.’ Jonny had been looking forward to the session even if the instructor had not.
