Finding Effective Keywords Is The First Step To Targeted Traffic
For a lot of people finding not only effective keywords but also profitable keywords is a struggle. Many online marketers simply overlook the importance of keyword marketing research before they post or write their articles. They then wonder why they are not getting any real targeted traffic to their site. The fact remains that no matter how great your product or service is, without any traffic your online sales will not be what they should. So before you post your next blog topic or write that next article considering proper keyword marketing research should be first and foremost in your keyword strategy.
The goal of this article is to help de-mystify some of what you have been told and as well give you the key elements you need to consider in finding profitable keywords.
It is Possible to Find Effective Keywords through Free Keyword Research. Yes, you read that right. You do not need any fancy paid keyword tools in order to do proper keyword marketing research. A lot of internet marketers have fallen for the hype behind these paid keyword tools. The truth is, you simply do not need them. I can get the exact same information and in most cases more information from free sources without having to resort to any expensive paid tool. So save your money do not fall for the hype. To help show you what I mean here are the only 3 things you need to consider when doing keyword marketing research.
1. What’s the Traffic Potential Behind a Keyword? There is no sense targeting a keyword that only has the potential to send you 5 hits a day, here’s why. The answer lies in simple math. 5 hits a day times 30 days = 150 potential visitors in an entire month. In my books tying to go for that keyword is just not worth the effort. Remember that is the gross potential visits, just because you manage to get to the front page on Google for that keyword, doesn’t mean your going to get all 150 visits, the truth is you’ll gets a fraction of that. Even if you managed to funnel 50% of that traffic on that keyword, that’s only 75 hits a month. I don’t know about you but you can’t generate a ton of sales on 75 hits a month.
2. How Much Competition Does that Keyword Have? This where most people fail. They realize that they need the traffic and so they steer away from those low value traffic making keywords but land up targeting ones where it’s just too saturated. Trying to score on the front page of google on a keyword that has over a million competing sites is like spitting in the wind. Plus if you plan on running a PPC campaign on this keyword you’ll quickly discover it’s very costly and might not even be the magical converting keyword that brings in the sales.
3. Can You Dominate that Keyword? Domination is the key to making some money online and making a ton of money online. The secret to making true money online is to dominate the niche. So the question can you dominate a keyword must be considered. What I mean by dominate is simply your blog post or article must appear everywhere. Everywhere your potential visitor goes looking for information about your niche, you should be plastered all over the place. Then he has no choice but to come to your page and not your competitors.
A lot more can be said about finding not only effective keywords but profitable keywords as well. More then can be written in one article obviously. But the essence behind any keyword strategy is focused on these 3 areas. Which is why I wrote a fully detailed tutorial on keyword marketing research using only the free tools found online.
